Let's Reunite...
Please spare some time to read this post that we have written on behalf of a good friend of ours in the blogosphere. By reading this post and spreading the word to the others around you, you could reunite two people who shared an extraordinary relationship. You could be the one to reunite two sisters.
Her name is Jackie Hooper, also known as Shinade. Her biological mother was Maxine Soape, but a couple had adopted her. According to her, besides her mother, she also had a younger sister as a family member. Just like her, her sister, who was born in 1959 or 1960 and is three years younger than her, had also been adopted out to another couple, by her own paternal uncle.
Both were born in the same hometown of East Texas, but are now being adopted by two different couples and have been separated since then. The sister is currently staying with her adopted parents in Pueblo, Colorado.
Jackie has never stood a chance to watch her younger sister grow, and has never even known what her sister’s name is.
As painful as it is to be worlds apart from your friends, it is even more painful to be worlds apart from your own flesh and blood. So readers, we hope that you can show some sense of empathy towards Jackie ‘Shinade’ Hooper who longs to rebuild her life with her younger sister whom she holds very dear in her heart throughout the years.
This is your chance to do something good for someone in our global society who is in need of our helping hands.
If you can provide any information about Jackie’s sister that would be able to assist Jackie in her search, we urge you to keep us in the loop or directly inform Jackie at her blog. Your liberality towards helping out in this search would be greatly appreciated by all of us here, but the one who would be most thankful to you is Jackie herself.
A little kindness goes a long way. Readers, please show your compassion towards someone who wants nothing else but to reunite with her beloved younger sister once again. They share a strong kinship, and they deserve to be together till the end of time.
Please read this special message from our friend, Jackie, and start doing your part in finding her long lost sister.
“My only message would be that I would so like to have the opportunity to get to know her and her family. I know she has children also. And, that I love her even though I don't know who she is or where she is.” – Jackie ‘Shinade’ Hooper

Schools and Parents
This is the message that apparently a Secondary School staff in the Midlands voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.
This is the actual answering machine message for the school. It came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and Parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are now being threatened with legal action by some parents who want their children's failing marks changed to passing marks - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the term and did not complete enough schoolwork to pass their various key stages.
The outgoing message:Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of ****** School. In order to assist you in connecting to the right member of staff, please listen to all the options before making a selection:
* To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1
* To make excuses for why your child did not do his/her work- Press 2
* To complain about what we do - Press 3
* To swear at staff members - Press 4
* To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosedin your Newsletter and several other letters posted to you - Press 5
* If you want us to bring up your child - Press 6
* If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7
* To request another teacher, for the third time this year -Press 8
* To complain about bus transport - Press 9
* To complain about school lunches - Press 0
If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable and responsible for his/her own behaviour, class work, homework and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a really wonderful day! If you want this in other languages, you must be in the wrong country. This is England.

It's close to midnight...
I tried to finish as many memes and tags that I could once I was feeling better and had caught up with work although most I did rather quickly just to try to get them out fast more than anything else! I still have one more to go I think and I'll do that a little later...it's for an award that I got sometime back and I should be passing it around but I want to hold this a while and do it right!
Another thing that kept my focus off was a meme that Marzie and I created ourselves, The Magical Flying Carpet Ride...with a little help from the talented Emila! We both worked hard on creating something new and different and we hope that everone liked it! It was tough because we had to keep it a secret from some of our best friends on the blog. We had to even limit the number of people we sent it to because we wanted to send it to everyone we knew. hehehe We also had to split sending some too where we had mutual friends...of course Marzie practically knows and is friends with almost everyone there is ! LOL
Unfortunately as we were preparing our Ride a lot of memes were flying around and we were not sure how the response would be. However, judging from the results we are pretty happy with it! I guess Marzie was right, there is a blog Santa, and the Blog Fairy, the blog Elf and so many others but only we will now be known as the Genie Princess and Genie King around the blogsphere. She even believes that this was the first meme that originated from Malaysia! To tell you the truth I kinda felt proud of our little achievement!
You see when I first started blogging about four months ago (it sure seems longer than that LOL) I just wanted to pass the time and give it a shot. Would you belive that I knew nothing about blogs and blogging before that. Even my trusty (or is that rusty) old computer at home had not seen the light of day since around 2005 which was when we had to clean up the place and make room for our little ones arrival! The first time I logged on to my service provider I found that I had more than 2,400 e-mails in my inbox. Yes I was totally out of it! LOL
My good buddy Nick was the...hmmm...what's a nice word to use...one (mamma always said if you've got nothing nice to say then say nothing LOL) who introduced me to blogging. I kinda hated the idea at first and wondered what the hell he was wasting his time for, to be perfectly honest! LOL BUT (there is always a but in my stories) as luck would have it wifey had to go away for a week and I was gonna be alone with the little one!
So after putting her to bed the first night I began my journery...after dusting off my old computer that is....didn't even remember where some of the wires went. So painstakingly I configuered everything and finally loggeed on...thank goodness I still had some credit with my service provider. I logged on and signed up...and created First Time Dad! It was easy to think about what I wanted to write about...my little one so that's what I wrote about! For the first few days I posted everyday but was only visited by my trusty friend. I was too new to be disheartened. So I plugged on and soon was where I am now...with my trusty friend still visiting me...of course with a lot more new friends who take the trouble to visit everyday. Believe me I'm a friendly person but I'm not a great conversationalist so this suits me just fine. I wish I had the gift of gab like some people but don't! I really should mention Marzie here because she really helped me get going with blogging by giving some great tips and advice. The best part is she does this for all new bloggers she stumbles across! What a gal!
One major problem I face is this old dial-up service (you won't believe how slow it is) and computer of mine really gives me a headache when it comes to posting comments. You'll notice that I usually comment on the weekdays! That's cause at nights and on weekends I can't most of the time because I keep getting error messages all the time...so much so I actually started to copy my comments before submitting. Alas even that doesn't work anymore! Linking (if I can't remember the url) is also a problem because it takes ages to refresh a page sometimes. I do have plans to upgrade to broadband and to buy a new pc but I am so guilty of procastination here becasue I've been talking about that for ages. Somehow I just can't seem to get it done...I must be a sucker for punishment LOL because that's how it feels sometimes when I'm blogging in the wee hours like now LOL
So what is the point of this post...err nothing LOL...I just couldn't sleep...well I could sleep but i wanted to just write a long post because it's been a while. Besides writing this reminded me of when I first started blogging! Okay Okay I got it...I got it...the point of this post is to let you know why I sometimes do not answer your comments in a timely manner and more importantly why I don't comment on your posts. I really wish I could comment more on your blogs but it's really not nice to do it in the office because I'm usually busy too! Really! :)...unless it's lunchtime (but I usually lunch is with wifey...err...we work in the same establishment but in different departments). Easy commute...none of that dropping off and picking up nonsense...hehehe that's why I married her...but don't tell her okay LOL
Okay how do I end this...TA DA!...Hope that will do becasue I don't have a fancy ending....happy weekend to you folks...I'm looking forward to tomorrow because we're having a barbeque at my place for a very dear friend who will soon be trading in his freedom for a ball and chain...errrr...I mean who will be getting married soon LOL
PEACE!

Pass the salt...
The female DJ on a radio show asked listeners on her programme to call to answer trivia questions. The first caller to give the correct answer would get a prize from the sponsor.
She asked: "Can anyone out there tell me the household name of Sodium Chloride"
"Something you put on your husbands eggs in the morning." the DJ said.
The lady confidently said: "Talcum powder".

3. Link the text you added back to the blog or blogger you’re referencing.
4. Be creative. Change the words or storyline as you wish in order to fit in the links you like.

This is my tale...
Title: Don't Mess with the Princess!
It was a fine sunny afternoon the birds were chirping and the flowers blooming while the Genie Princess and the Genie King were cruising around in their Magical Flying Carpet picking up new wishers. All was well in the world because of the wishes that the Genies had granted, when out of the blue the Genie Princess spotted trouble on the horizon! Santa was out test piloting his brand new sleigh, The SCS7000 ECO, before the gift giving season began and had run into some trouble. This new sleigh was not reindeer powered but eco-snow powered...well at least that's what the salesman told Santa we later found out! Of couse this so called eco-snow powered craft worked fine in the confines of the North Pole where all things were cold. However, once Santa took the SCS7000 ECO into warmer climates the snow started to melt and the craft would lose power. You might think this strange but in the North Pole such things happen all the time!
Our brave and quirky heroine knew exactly what to do - she ran over to the Genie King and told him about what she saw and whispered in his ear. He laughed an almighty guffaw and nodded and off she went to the utility chest. Quickly rummaging through she at last found what she was looking for all rolled up and neat. It was the prototype Magical Flying Rug...no not the masive thing they were riding on but a small sleek one person ride....in fact it was so small that you could only stand and use it like a surfboard! Gliding through the cold air she swiftly gained speed, knowing that every second counted in her quest to save Santa but our brave and quirky heroine had no idea how to stop the sleigh!
Seeking help for this dilemma, our heroine landed the SurfRug and hid it from prying eyes and headed down the road to Santa's right hand man...err elf, The Blog Elf. The road passed thre creatures - each more interesting than the next, The first was the was the Merfish...with the legs of a man and the head of a fish. He had a glass bowl over his head with some tubes and bellows to help him breathe on land! The second was a Centaur but also in reverse...he had the legs of a man and the head of a horse! Talk about a horse face! The third was a car that could talk...it kept babbling something about it's name being KNIGHT 2000 and that it was banished to the woods after his show, Knightrider, got cancelled! Our brave and quirky heroine ran the rest of the way, and when she got there she got another surprise!
Santa! I thought you were up there in trouble with your new sleigh! Our hero exclaimed!
Ho Ho Ho, that was not me you spied, but the blog elf. He must have taken the SCS7000 ECO for a ride and also borrowed my spare suit to keep him warm. I warned him not to use it but you know the Blog Elf, he's such a mischevious fella, but obviously he couldn't resist and is now in trouble! But I've saved him using my remote control device and that's why I'm here cause he's due home any minute! Santa answered.
I was on the Magical Flying Carpet, when out of the blue I spotted you, or who I thought was you, in trouble and was so worried that I knew I had to save you or Christmas might be lost forever, our brave and quirky heroine said, knees shaking.
Could you spare me the walk through that strange path and give me a ride back to my Surf Rug?
And so it passed that Santa gave our brave and quirky heroine a ride back to her SurfRug, but not before she gave the Blog Elf a good dressing down for his antics that caused her so much anxiety. Santa was a little more lenient and said that if the naughty Blog Elf had not been up to his tricks who knows what would have happened if Santa himself was using the new sleigh at Christmas with a heavy load of toys. In fact Santa said that he will just stick to his trusty reindeer from now on and no more new sleigh as he sent the genie Princess back to the SurfRug AND then she hopped on the SurfRug and hightailed it back to the Genie King and the Magical Flying Carpet riders to tell them her tale and that all was well!
You might think it strange but in the amazing Land of Faraway, such things happen all the time!
The End.
If you find yourself reading this story and wish you were tagged...well consider your wish granted and go ahead and do it with my blessings!
Weekend at Tony Roma's
We wanted to take her out and spend the day with her doing fun things. We cancelled everythign else on the calendar...which was nothing much to begin with but it's the thought that counts! So in the morning we took her out for a hearty breakfast of thosai (Indian savory flat pancakes served with curry and chutney) and roti chanai (a kind of brea I think). She enjoyed her meal and even dipped her thosai in the dahl curry...which is something she never used to do! Another little milestone!
After breakfast we had actually planned to take her to a nearby park...but she started coughing (the chesty congested type) again and we (the overprotective parents which we promised ourselves not to be) decided to go home early so we could take her out for lunch later without exerting her too much! However, when we got home she started to feel sleepy (of all the days) and quietly fell asleep! By the time she got up it was too late to go out for lunch so we just had something simple.
That night we decided to go to Tony Roma's for dinner (Yes, it's a restaurant in case you didn't already know...LOL). Tony's recently opened it's door to Malaysia and we've been planning to go for a while. The place was crowded and there was a queue to get in but we left our name and took a walk around and did some window shoping! The restaurant folks called back pretty quick and gave us a nice booth. We ordered the Mushroom Burger and the Blue Cheese Burger (we love burgers and the blue cheese burger was recommended by Marzie) and they were pretty darn good. I wasn't too sure about my Blue Cheese Burger when I ordered it (I'm not a fan of blue cheese) but it was a pleasant surprise. Daughter didn't want to eat because she had milk on the way there...she's like that. When she's hungry she must be fed immediately or there'd be hell to pay LOL. Anyway she nibbled on some fries and cheese and had a little hot chocolate and wouldn't eat anything else.
I must say taht I noticed the ribs that everyone else were ordering and they looked mighty fine and smelled even better. We thought we'd try that the next time we came...which was probably the following week cause it did smell wonderful!
The next day (Sunday) we were just relaxing and lazing about because wifey had to go to go to work in the afternoon to meet some people! What we forgot was the pest control guy was coming for his usual rounds (errr...the appointment was made the night before and we both forgot...talk about getting old and forgetful...LOL). So now we had to go out (the fumes are not good for the little one)...and well I was tired of Chili's (one of my fav joints) and really wanted to try the ribs so off we went LOL. We ordered the full rack without bone because we wanted to finish early and thought the portion on the menu looked large enuf for the both of us to share. WRONG!! It came with a measly three pieces of meat. It tasted good (especially witht the four types of sauces that came with it) and though the three pieces were sizeable they just wasn't enuf. So we ordered the Onion Loaf (a nest of onions deep fried in batter) ...I wanted the big loaf but the waitres said it was very big so we settled for the regular size. When it came it was a little small too...so we polished it off pretty quick wondering why the portions here are so small compared to other American food joints.
Anyway, we were nearly full by then but not satisfied. As we were waiting for the bill the manager came over to ask how was the meal (he had come over yesterday too and did the same...actually yesterday we wanted to complain that the burger...wifeys was a little too rare but she was not that hungry so we left it at that...and the manager suggested we let them know next time...not knowing that I'm a big complainer (hehehe...be careful what you wish for) so we said okay politely) err..where was I...okay the manager asked us about our meal and so I said your picture shows a huge portion and asked how many ribs comes with the meal. I added that last night when we were here we saw the ribs and said we'd try it one day and would share because the portion looked huge but was instead hugely disappointed by the small portion. He explained that the pics were from the US menu, he also said that the regular Bountiful ribs comes with 3 ribs and the full rack comes with 5. However, the regular boneless ribs comes with two ribs and the full rack only three. Boy was I surprised.
However, the manager was very nice and said that the waitress should have told us about that. Guess what? He offered us two more ribs for free. We actually were getting ready to leave bacause daughters nap time was approaching and wifey had to go to work. Then again not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth either, we said "Can we have that to go please?" LOL So a few minutes later after settling the bill we got our hot towels (Yeah they give disposable towels after the meal) and mints...and also a box of ribs. Yahoo!
We drove home and daughter even slept on the way back. When we opened the box there were three meaty ribs there...LOL so we feasted again (hey the drive back was pretty long and made us hungry LOL) and then wife left for work! What an experience huh! Best part is we never complained or anything and still got good service!
Oh! I almost forgot...that night my other best buddy and his wife to be came over. They want my little one to be a flower girl at their wedding! I am so proud that they chose her! They came over to actually bring the flower girls dress for her to try. It was really a sweet little dress and fit like a glove. I won't describe the dress because they want to make some changes to it and it was just for a fitting although it looked great to me!
After that guess what? They wanted to go to Tony Roma's (they are regulars there) too (thats why I said weekend at Tony Roma's). I was game because I wanted another shot at the Blue Cheese Burger LOL but thank goodness we decided against it at the last minute. Had we gone again...it would have been three main meals in a row and they would have probably given me honorary membership LOL
Hmmm...I wonder what I'll have for lunch today? LOL
